The show not to miss is the light-hearted duo known as Whitney. Drummer/vocalist Julien Ehrlich’s soft voice guides you through a tangle of emotional songs ranging somewhere between happy and heartbroken. Their standout track, No Woman, from their first album is a confession so honest and beautifully compiled. Take that and compare it to the easy going, No Matter Where We go, with retro tunes reminiscent of a summer day and you’ll get an idea of the band’s range.
Tonight at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Whitney will be playing a nearly sold out show.
Poetic, honest and by far one of the year’s best albums (so far), Capacity, the sophomore album by Big Thief, is a must hear. Released earlier this month, the record is wracking up quite a buzz amid critics and fans. The emotional triumph from the Chicago band, Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums), is a soulful guide into sadness and deeper look into the band’s sound.
The band will be headlining The Horseshoe Tavern June 28th.
